The Fascinating Future of LEGO Pirates
In the 2020s, fans have been fortunate enough to receive LEGO pirate sets, in the form of not only a couple of remakes - those being Pirates of Barracuda Bay and the Eldorado Fortress, but also a Pirate Ship put out under the Creator theme, and a few GWPs. But that leaves the question - what's next for the LEGO Pirates property? This is The Fascinating Future of LEGO Pirates.

LEGO Space Police, a theme that lived on store shelves from 2009 to 2010 is a very special theme. It was the third edition of this now classic LEGO space property, and saw LEGO create a certified heater of a space theme, one that has captured the hearts and minds of an entire generation of LEGO fans. The Return of LEGO's Greatest Original Character
Переглядів 10 тис.Місяць тому
Johnny Thunder, the main protagonist from LEGO Adventurers is without a doubt one of, if not LEGO's greatest original character. While he may appear as an Indiana Jones knockoff to most, the character, and the sets he was included in hold a special place in my heart - and thankfully, he'll be returning to store shelves later this year, with the new LEGO City 2024 Jungle sets. Let's talk about i...

LEGO City Space is back better than ever in 2024, and to celebrate the recent return of the subtheme, I thought it would be appropriate today to take a look back at the history of LEGO City Space - while we all know and love LEGO's iconic space properties like Classic Space, Blacktron, M-tron, Space Police, Alien Conquest, Mars Mission, Life on Mars, Insectoids, and so many others, the realisti...
The Rise of LEGO Castle Content

What's one thing many of the most popular LEGO themes have in common? It's a community- with LEGO Castle finally making its triumphant return in 2021 after an 8 year hiatus, The Rise of LEGO Castle Content online has certainly benefitted this community- one that has existed for decades, but has not been in the spotlight like it is now. Today, I thought it would be fun to talk about three of my ...
The Last LEGO Pirates Theme

The early 2010s were a great time to be a LEGO Pirates fan. Between the release of 2009's LEGO Pirates theme, or the LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean theme that hit shelves in 2011, fans were treated to some fantastic licensed and unlicensed pirates sets, and later that decade, in 2015, fans received the 2015 LEGO Pirates theme. This set lineup saw the return of Captain Roger Redbeard, along with ...
The Future of LEGO City Police

9 months ago, I made a video titled The Downfall of LEGO City Police - I was frustrated with the lack of Police subthemes and I wasn't excited with the future of the property. But the LEGO City 2024 sets have changed my mind on the matter, specifically the LEGO City 2024 Police sets. LEGO City police, in my opinion, is back: This is The Bright Future of LEGO City Police #lego #legocity #legopolice

I like the idea of him leading an expedition even if its a conservation effort. He was meant to be a substitute for Indiana Jones since LEGO didn't license stuff at the time. He needs a new identity to stand out against Jones. I would love some classic advetures as well, but this is a start.
Just release the original models again. Don’t make remakes
I would love to see islanders, but the woke mob would squeak about political correctness.
Been buying lego pirate sets since 2009. Just bought the 2009 Brickbread's Bounty again recently.
That’s awesome Hope you’ve enjoyed my retrospects on both the 2009 and 2015 themes!
I’ll be honest, in my opinion the original black seas barracuda is overrated. The 2020 version is far better with 4 cannon holes each side opposed to just 2. And for me I just think there’s far better ship designs that can be made for a ship.
Nexo knights was lego's last atempt at castle. Too manny compared it to ninjago or hated the compatition to ninjago so it was eventually scrapped. I sometimes think lego stopped doing castle cause alot of kids want vehicles and such. Marvel' starwars and citty cover alot of that so that's what they crank out. I feel like lego just makes castles and stuff largeley in the disney princess theme for girls and for boys they focus on vehicles and mech stuff. I realy wish castle and pirates would return. With the deku tree set we may see a zelda theme and lotr could losibley get going again after the two colectors sets they did and I herd a rumor potc may return. If anny of these get going I'd be more then happy and if all these come put -just hoping not holding my breath- well my wallet will go on a major diet.
I think you make a great point about the vehicles. Makes a lot of sense, tbh. Could also explain the increase in mechs across all themes as well
@@OurToyWorld I just thought that when it comes to vehicles and senery\desplay sets they pute the vehicle focus on kids and alot of the senerey sets are in colectors. Wish the display based sets wer more varied for more buyers. I'm getting tired of great sets like rivendale at huge builds and prices. I'd rather they did lotr like harry potter with severall sets you can combine for a larger build.
they look amazing, i only have some legos from star wars, XD
bro forgot all the animated shorts on the old lego website
More classic space please
the word "cool" has completely being forgotten by lego.. these new city sets simply suck.. it looks like playmobile :S
Play mobil lowkey better haha
Personally I feel like the new police livery and smaller sets ruined it. Now we just get smaller station and cars. We used to get a lot more. Around 2013 (when Lego city undercover came out) was the best year ever for Lego police.
2013 was awesome, I love the Museum set.
I just got a imperial flagship
Sealed? That’s one of my white whales now tbh
@@OurToyWorld sealed and I am planning on biulding and modifying it
Defund the Lego City Police. To much of them.
As someone who has red beard runner, I totally disagree with you about it, it is very very sturdy and only falls apart if you want it to. I can't imagine kid me having any more fun with the skull eye schooner than the red beard runner.
Mind you, I am a young AFOL lol
The admirals hairpiece is so good. Bringing it back alone would please me, it's so expensive!
The figs in this theme were fantastic
I guess the Lego City Police has an unlimited budget. The LCPD is a private army at this point
My childhood was Adventures, Mars Mission, Alpha Team, Racers and Basketball/Soccer. Sad to see I had it so good back then.
Also in the year 2023 we receive the Scary Pirate Island set in October, a few months after the release of Eldorado Fortress
Such a tease they used his photo in Lego Fortnite quests
You lost me when you put the 2009 ship as a b. Really? It’s just as good if not better than the originals you put as s tier.
I liked the conquistadors as a kid because the mustache head molds 😂
Their designs are awesome, thanks for sharing
2009 space police was my favorite Lego theme of all time
The unfortunate thing is that this was the last pirates set. I looked it up, and it was retired last year with the fortress remake
I don’t think it’s gone yet?
I know him as Joe Freeman 😮😅
Thanks for sharing, can I ask where you’re from?
@@OurToyWorld Germany - and I got the Sphinx Set as child. Here it came with an audiobook on cassette tape. (Still a decent listen btw!) And there he is called "Joe Freeman" - I believe LEGO didn't release the audio books in all countries but around the 2000s there were a couple of set which had audio books. There also priate stories and so on (sorry got a bit off topic)
@@apfelfreund6859 don’t apologize, I appreciate you sharing, I want to make a retrospective on adventures at some point this year
I dont really care if the future of lego pirate is huge or not. I am just begging lego to make a new empirial flag ship or a bit smaller of a reboot of the flag ship
I’d love that tbh Haven’t gotten imperial ship since 2010. Quite a shame
Please don’t kick me out of the Lego pirate fan club, but I bought a Pirates of Barracuda Bay knockoff set from AliExpress today😭😩I am just ITCHING FOR MORE PIRATES. I am glad I snagged the Eldorado Fortress, but man. I love Lego Pirates and Lego Pirates of the Caribbean so much!
You’re still in it, don’t worry. Hope this video didn’t trigger that purchase lol
@@OurToyWorld No but it did make me feel validated and understood in my Lego pirate addiction! Haha
OurYapWorld, you didnt say anything interesting, unfortunately
Glad you stayed til the end 🤝
@@OurToyWorld it’s a tough world
Do really really need a re- do of a re- do of a Star War set?
Unless it’s better than what came before, no.
7:10 I have the Pirate Ship that has the skull in the back and the mast falls over, I also have a lot of those Imperial Ships as well, I purchased them in the 90's.
What are your thoughts on that ship? I get the play features are a big part of it, but idk, I just don’t really like it, tbh. What’s your favorite faction?
Scan the QR code on the back of the instructions on any set you build and tell them we want this theme back under it's own banner. If enough do that I believe Lego will bring them back. They take in feedback better that way than through a UA-cam video because of the constant negativity from every one about everything they do basically.
1st!
Kids these days (and for a good while actually), are conditioned to like licenced merch, with so much in the way of advertising and the like. Its not just Star Wars on its own or Harry Potter on its own that was the death knell for unlicensed Lego themes. And if the kids are not receptive to unlicenced themes, then it doesn't matter if the AFOLs want Lego Space, Lego won't be giving it to them (other than the occasional icon set).
Need to go back to monster fighters. Hidden side. Power miners.
Any retrospectives you'd like to see in the future? Love talking about those classic LEGO Themes.
I don’t think lego will do any themes with guns if it can be avoided. Can’t do western without lots of guns.
Fair. Look out for another western video, soon.
I was just thinking one day and I thought, what if lego made a pirates game like the skywalker saga but also like sea of theives. Cant get it out of my head now.
One day, perhaps
No chance they'll do islanders again with the Politically Correct police. Let's be honest, a set of imperial soldiers against islanders does not sound like a good newspaper headline
To be fair, we never saw the imperial soldiers take on the islanders. Still though, I assume LEGO would want to stay clear of the islanders
I rember the Adventure theme still have my boat from the Jungle River set was my favorite small set l had even to this day. Might check out the new sets sometime.
Jungle was such a fascinating theme. It’s probably my third favorite adventures subtheme
Lego's logic: Make original themes❌️ Turn original themes into ninjago✅️
Ding Ding Ding!
@@OurToyWorld ding ding ding ding ding ding ding *explosion*
They need to bring back the Islanders series of sets.
They really do, hope you enjoyed my retrospective on that line!
I’ve been building a city for years and have been reluctant to start a new theme for reasons of time and money. But recently I decided to start a pirate build, so I’m hoping they keep sets coming even if at a slow pace
Sounds awesome
The Spanish, or "Armada" as most will call them, is a faction that really needs love and was officially killed off by LEGO California. This is also why no one really got to see more of them as LEGO California wanted to promote America more and thus the infestation of American type sports was a thing suddenly along with other pointless themes that shouldn't have been released. It would make a lot of sense for now woke company LEGO to make what fans want, which is a decent full set line of Armada. This indeed including a big base and a new ship, or rather 2 sizes of ships. The islanders is a faction that likely won't return due to modern day woke bs making it a touchy subject that probably will get cancelled real quickly. Now I personally am educated and I do know the realistic idea behind it. So I personally would like to see a new set regarding that. Problem is that it will be kinda difficult to really do much with it as it stands now. I however do wish to see a more Dutch East India type faction that could turn out to be a huge game changer for the theme as a whole. Think about merchant ships, merchant type city bases and things along those lines. It would be a faction that should have been added a long time ago and technically speaking, there is a single ship (although fairly small) that is part of a merchant fleet. Which is repeated to some extend in set 10320. So technically 2 ships? Problem is the second round it's a blue coat ship which makes no sense with the sail and flag it shows. I personally believe the next big thing we might see are the 2 big pirate islands from 1989 combined into 1 island. They did it with 2 soldier bases, which technically makes no sense as it's 2 different factions (Blue being French and Red being British), but oh well. It does state there is a big opportunity that they will make both islands into 1. Another option would be one of those islands combined with one of the Islander sets, which would give a unique idea to it.
I’d love to see some more merchant type sets. I wish we got more imperial trading post type sets. I love the forts and bases, but normal location sets are desired as well, at least from people like me.
Imo it’s very sad they nowadays only make these fun themes with large 200$+ sets. We need proper playset lines for the children
Facts, what was your favorite theme growing up?
@@OurToyWorld unlicensed? Knights/Castle. Licensed? Star Wars
